What is Proauthorism?

A new doctrine for a new age of creativity

Proauthorism is a philosophy of declared, transparent collaboration between human creativity and Artificial Intelligence. Born of conviction, not convenience, it defines a new creative doctrine for the age of Artificial Intelligence — one that places transparency, human leadership, and creative integrity at its centre. It does not follow a trend. It sets the standard for human-Artificial Intelligence interaction.

The word was coined in February 2026 by Kevin Martin of Pitch Dark Press — to give the future of human creativity a name.

What a Proauthorist believes

These principles define the philosophy. They are not rules. They are a declaration of intent.

Declare, always

A Proauthorist never seeks to hide their collaboration with Artificial Intelligence. It is declared in the work, on the cover, in the credits, in the liner notes, in the release. Not because it is required. Because it is right. Transparency is not a weakness — it is the whole point.

The human leads

Artificial Intelligence is a collaborator, a creative partner of extraordinary capability. But the human artist is the director. The vision, voice and the final judgement is human. That never changes.

Quality is non-negotiable

Artificial Intelligence does not lower the bar. A Proauthorist holds their finished work to exactly the same standard as any piece made by hand alone — and takes full responsibility for every word, every note, every frame. No excuses. No shortcuts.

Open, always

The argument about Artificial Intelligence and creativity is loud, confused, and often dishonest. A Proauthorist does not hide from it. They engage with it openly, honestly, and without apology.
